The following picture shows how a computer works and the three top boxes are how the computer works
1- The abbreviation CPU stands for central processing unit.
2- A CPU does all of the calculations and all the logic. It takes instructions from RAM and processes them
3- CPU's work in cycles it does the same thing over and over again
Fetch- Collects the instruction.
Decode-Works out what to do.
Execute-When it does it.
Store-It stores it in memory.
4- The speed of a CPU is measured in Hz. 1 Hz is 1 cycle a second. 1 GHz is 1 billion cycles. They are doing about 3 GHz (3 billion a second)

What does RAM mean
RAM stands for Random-access Memory.
What is stored in RAM
Apps and Data is stored in there.
What does volatile mean
- what happens to the contents OF-RAM when the power is turned off
Its where data is stored but when the computer is turned off it all goes
Why do computers need RAM
It makes computers a lot faster and you are able to have more Apps/tabs open.
what does ROM mean
Read-Only Memory
what is usually stored in ROM chips
Why is ROM needed in a computer
can the contents of ROM usually be changed
It cannot be changed when it has been burnt
is ROM volatile or non volatile
ROM is non-volatile because its memory can be kept after the computer is turned off
